SWEET10: Dude York - Escape From Dude York EP

Following on from last week’s ILLLS announcement. We’re pleased to announce the release of ”Escape From Dude York” the debut EP from Seattle, WA’s Dude York, the EP will be available on 7” and Download on July 10th but is available to pre-order now.
To celebrate the imminent release of the Escape from Dude York EP and to introduce the band, The Sounds of Sweet Nothing will now present a few potentially important facts about Dude York, some of which may actually be true:
0. Dude York is a full-service teenpop agency consisting of specialists Alex Cassidy (strings, voice), Andrew Hall (percussion, voice), and Peter Richards (strings, voice).
1. Dude York’s first performance was approximately 12 minutes long and took place in a basement in Walla Walla, Washington, following a Wolf Parade tribute band. It consisted of seven songs and was enjoyed immensely by each of the five semi-drunken strangers in attendance.
2. Dude York has burned through, at present, a total of two drummers, two singer/guitarists, one additional guitarist, and three bass players, as well as 7,245 B strings, 8,942 E strings, four E strings, 18 A strings, (to their surprise) 0 D strings, approximately 24 pairs of drum sticks, four cymbals, one drum kit [via rainstorm], six guitar amplifiers. It has also survived profound psychic damage.
3. Current Dude York personnel has probably seen Purple Rain a combined total of at least 15 times.
4. Performers in Dude York, despite the steeple chase that is Dude York, are currently employed.
5. Dude York has covered a total of five songs. The most successful of these was most likely “I’m Alright” by Kenny Loggins. At the very most current Dude York personnel has seen Caddyshack no more than possibly a combined total of three or four times.
6. All songs by Dude York are the result of calculated, mathematically sound composition systems. The DudeYork Songbook, while an actual thing that does exist, does not provide a concrete explanation of this composition system in legible enough handwriting to allow for its duplication.***
7. The song “And Andrew Too” has been recorded over half a dozen times in as many genres. The best version was a 2008-era remix that made it sound like snap music by our friend David.*
8. Dude York owns two pedals. One of them is a tuner, the other came with an amplifier. There are two others, but they are reserved for private** use only.
9. Dude York does not practice in a garage; Peter says he has played music in a garage once, maybe, Andrew is fairly certain that he only ever played music in living rooms, basements and wood shops, and Alex isn’t sure. If presented with the opportunity, they would probably practice on a boat, but for various reasons this has so far proven unnecessarily dangerous****.
10. Current Dude York personnel met in 2006, were neighbors in 2008, formed an eBusiness in 2010, and restructured their current eBusiness in 2011 as reflected by its present structure, shareholders, and board members. In the coming weeks of 2012, the Escape From DudeYork 7” will serve as a greatest hits of sorts for the 2011-2012 season, capturing five songs from the company’s Gangs of DudeYork, Satanic Vs. and Dewark collections in their most shining and eligible forms yet.
